Devil's Washbowl Hike, 10/30
Naturalist-educator Clare Green of Warwick and journalist Allen Young of Royalston will lead a hike on Sunday, Oct. 30, through the Arthur Iversen Conservation Area off Gale Road in Warwick, following a new loop trail that includes the Devil’s Washbowl. Although little water may be flowing, the hikers will have a chance to have a close-up view of how, over centuries, water has shaped the rounded concave rocky formation.
The hike is considered easy to moderate, with a total distance of about 2.5 miles. Please bring a snack and water and appropriate footwear since parts of the trail may be slippery because of fallen leaves. The starting point is located on Gale Road two-tenths of a mile from Athol Road. Access to Gale Road is only from Athol Road, as a bridge is out on the North Orange side of Gale Road.
Rain cancels. The hike is limited to 20 people. Please register at http://www.mountgrace.org/devils-washbowl-hike-1030

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
NQTA is reaching out to its membership for new members to the board of directors. There are vacancies for one, two or three year terms. One must be a current member of NQTA. During the Annual Meeting in January there will be a vote for the new slate of Board of Directors presented to the membership. If you would like to be considered or know of someone who is interested, please contact Charlie Shatos, Gary Brigham, Joann Deacon or Marilyn Elwood.
Tully Triathlon, on Saturday, October 15, NQTA members have volunteered before, and Volunteers would start at 7am.
We need help with set-up, parking, checking people in, security to watch over racers boats and bikes, water stop cheerleaders, boat movers and clean up.
Volunteers are welcome to camp for free both Friday and Saturday night of the race, they just have to call the campground to reserve a site.
We have to order t-shirts by October 2- sorry-short notice! We plan to order some extras to have on hand for those that don't get their sizes in to us before the deadline.
Things start to slow down around 3pm, so volunteers could leave then, or if they still had energy could stay to help with clean up, which is generally all done by around 5pm.
