Could it be that we in the North Quabbin are spoiled? I just returned from the AMC portion of the Maine 100-Mile Wilderness Region. A big draw in the area is Gulf Hagus – sometimes called the “Grand Canyon” of Maine. Oh it was picturesque all right, but as in the words of the country song – “that don’t impress me much”…
What did impress me is the AMC’s Maine Woods Initiative; Conservation and New Outdoor Experiences – described as….
‘an innovative approach to conservation that combines outdoor recreation, resource protection, sustainable forestry and community partnerships.”
Sound familiar? NQTA is also working to attain these goals with their partners….
( I won’t talk forever about the wonderful Gorman Chairback Lodge or the great fishing but ask me if you’d like to learn more…)
