A Fish Tale
Spring is upon us and our partner Pete Mallett of MRFA ( Millers River Fishermans Association ) will be regaling us in all the many wonderful, hidden fishing and catch and release opportunities available in our region.
Pete and MRFA are the leaders in our community in the release of beautiful rainbow and brown trout .
Pete is having a $10.00 'Adopt and Tag a Fish Program ' .
On April 30th at the treatment plant right down the street from OIC , Pete will be having a release day of these fish.
If you've never participated with your children or grandchildren don't miss this truly fun and educational day.
The children ( or yourself) actually get to tag their own fish and from the dispenser on the truck gently toss into the Millers river , this is a giggle good time of education and fun unlike anything you've ever experienced and helps bring life to the Millers.
We also will be unveiling NQTA's 2 new visions and initiatives rapidly unfolding.
NQTA in partnership with Outdoor Access is devolping a new 1 to 4 challenged mobility trail rating system utilizing the trails we have been creating .
With these terrible wars we have a true crisis in how we treat our young disabled vets .
The dispensing of opiates by the VA instead of providing mental and physical therapy and health is an opportunity for NQTA to help change this.
We have already assembled the Challenge Mobility Team and recently at Mt Tom had Grit , founded by MIT students come and provide their Freedom Chair for use by out co leaders Nate Johnson and disabled Afghan vet Andy Kingsley, we all had a wonderful time and these chairs truly do provide a trail freedom opportunity for our challenge mobility community.
Tomorrow we are headed to their Boston headquarters for video documentation and be educated and trained by the professionals at Grit on the use of these Freedom wheelchairs.
Last we will be unveiling NQTA's June 4th event " Miracle on the Millers ' a 40 year success story " at OIC.
We have many different organizations joining us for a day of celebration on the amazing success story of the industrial wasteland that the Millers river was to the clean running waters of today.
To much time is spent on what's wrong with our region , this is an opportunity to celebrate a true eco sustainable success story.
So come pick up some maps , learn about the life and fishing opportunities of our Millers and join us for a Springtime meal and Gathering together.
Happy Trails !
NQTA President and ENQ Co Chair
